Hello! My name is Beth Rankin and I am a multimedia journalist currently based in
Beaumont, TX. You might be familiar with my work because of this. Or perhaps
you know me from this. Maybe this? Perhaps you read one of my columns or saw me
on your friendly local news station.

I have experience writing, reporting, taking pictures (specializing in documentary photojournalism), producing online content and shooting and editing audio, video and still images.

I am a 2008 graduate of the Kent State University Visual Journalism program, a John S. Knight Scholar, Hearst Award recipient, two-time Ron Clark Opinion Writing award-winner and won a few regional Society of Professional Journalists awards in spot news and opinion writing. I worked for two years as a night metro reporter at the Akron Beacon Journal, 6 months as a photo intern at the Lima News and competed in the 49th annual National Writing Championships - part of the Hearst Journalism Awards Program - in June 2009 in San Francisco.

I can read, write and speak a little Arabic and Spanish and have been known to get pretty excitable about music, working with animals, 20th century art history and enology & viticulture. I'm also an avid CouchSurfer.

You can also find me on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Vimeo, LinkedIn and Last.fm or you can e-mail me.
